Hand-written input recognition system for UIQ-smartphones “Primetech Jot”.Version 1.2.0.

Installation

Please, backup your smartphone before installing the system. Then install the application PtHWRJot.sis.

If you plan to install the system for getting acquainted with it, we recommend to install it on the memory card (disk D:). In the other case you must read “System removal” paragraph.

System installation into smartphone is carried out in the same way as an installation of other applications. The installation program will ask you to reboot the smartphone immediately after finishing the installation. If you do not plan to finely configure the system and want to use default settings, you must reboot the smartphone.

Configuring the system

We recommend you to configure the system at once for decreasing reboots quantity. For doing that go to the smartphone “Control panel” and select “Text input” item. Select Primetech Jot as the main text input method (Fig. 1).
Press “Settings” button to continue.

After pressing “Settings” button system configuration dialog window with the following three tabs in the bottom will appear:

• Delays
• Layout
• About

On the tab “Delays” (the first one), shown on Fig. 2, drawing delays are selected with the help of sliders:

• Standard input parameter defines delay between character strokes. For multistroke characters you have some time for symbol drawing continuation after pen detachment.
• Set without delay option if you draw characters with one stroke. Setting this option allows you decrease time interval between character drawing, but you will not be able to draw multistroke characters. It is worth noting that with this option set it is impossible to set “Standard input” parameter. It is recommended to use this option if your layouts are intended for symbols drawn with one stroke.
• Extended input parameter is the same as “Standard input”, but the delay time is greater. This delay is used for drawing complex multistroke symbols, e.g. “©”, “®”, etc.
• Object pressing time parameter defines how much time a pen must be hold on an object (button, scrollbar, etc.) for intended action invocation.

It is recommended to configure only “Standard input” parameter, but for some users it may be necessary to configure other parameters too.

On the tab “Layout” (the second one), shown on Fig. 3, layout parameters are configured:

• Default layout parameter specifies layout which will be active after hand-written input activation.
• Indicator color parameter specifies triangle color (in the center in the right). If you select any color other than black, the triangle will be transparent.
• Dashed line option specifies drawing of horizontal dash line, which divides the screen into two parts.

On the tab “About” (the third one), shown on Fig. 4, you can find general information about the program, and the possibility of entering registration code for unblocking all program features that do not work in demo mode (without the registration code).

System Removal

Before removal of the system “Primetech Jot” you must select “CICs Jot Pro” as the main text input method and reboot the phone. You may start removal procedure only after fulfillment of all these actions.

Demo version limitations and system regustration

Without the registration code (see Fig. 4) you can use the system in acquaintance mode (demo version). In this mode the system recognizes only first 18-20 strokes in each layout.

For normal usage of the system it is necessary to obtain the registration code and enter it into the corresponding field. After entering the registration code, all demo version limitations will be removed: it will be possible to use practically unbounded number of strokes for each layout.
